中秋节源于古人对月亮的崇拜，古人借秋夕祭月祈求丰收团圆。唐朝赏月、吟诗作赋盛行，宋代以后吃月饼、挂灯笼、亲人团圆赏月的习俗普及，“嫦娥奔月”“玉兔捣药”等传说也为其增添浪漫色彩。
The Mid-Autumn Festival originated from the ancient people's worship of the moon. They used the autumn evening to offer sacrifices to the moon and pray for a good harvest and family reunion. Moon-gazing and poetry-composition became popular during the Tang Dynasty. After the Song Dynasty, the customs of eating mooncakes, hanging lanterns, and gathering with family to admire the moon became widespread. Legends such as "Chang' e Flying to the Moon" and "The Jade Rabbit Pounding Medicine" also add a romantic touch to the festival.
